Not eating well after 2 month shots
My 2 month old has his check up and shots on Monday and did very well, only fussed for a minute then slept most of the day. I woke him up to eat a few times and he would eat his full amount, just a little more slowly than usual. But now yesterday and this morning he's not eating as much and keeps pushing the bottle or boob out of his mouth (I pump and breastfeed). He was eating 4 oz every 3-3.5 hours and now we're lucky if he finishes 3 oz. I assume it's a side effect from the vaccines but when does it become concerning enough to call the dr? See how he acts for the rest of the day and if nothing changes call? TIA!
It's normal . By day 3 still not eating well call your dr . As long as baby is getting wet diapers and not dehydrate all is well
My LO did not eat well the next day and by day 3 had finally started eating normal. He was running a fever and just wanted to be held so that's what we did. Momma loved the snuggles.
@marzecr,
My son ate 5oz less per day after, he slept more and also fell asleep while eating so didn't finish. He seems like he's back to normal today (shots on Monday) and on track to eat his usual
@marzecr,
My little nursed less also. She was back to normal the next day.
Thanks everyone! I'll watch him today and if he's not back to his normal self tomorrow I'll give the dr a call. I knew they could get a fever and be sleepy after vaccinations but I didn't know about the decrease in eating.
Thanks for posting this. We go on Monday for our 2 month and would have freaked if he stopped eating (we had failure to thrive in the first month since I wasn't producing enough for him) so I'm always oz counting, it was scary when he loss 9oz in 6days.
Update: He's still not back to his normal amount. He ate his almost 4 oz bottle at 9pm and 1230am turn didn't finish at his 5am, 9am, 1230pm, 330pm feedings, he left a full oz each time. My friend suggested getting the next nipple size so I have those in the sterilizer ready to go for his next feeding. If that doesn't work I'm calling the dr in the morning, but honestly what can the dr do?
@marzecr,
Let me know how changing the nipple size works! My LO got shots yesterday and hasn't eaten like his normal self today. He only got in an OK amount of ounces because I woke him up twice in the night (which he only normally wakes up once).
@marzecr,
Thanks for posting. Mine got her shots this morning and has a fever and is hardly nursing. They said that could happen but oh my heart. You just worry about your little! Let us know that LO is okay :)
